Update: As of 3:45 am, classes in all levels and office work has been suspended on August 26, 2014.
Sudden downpour caused knee-deep floods and heavy traffic in the vicinity of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in Espana, Manila.
Rain started to pour at 6:45pm, getting stronger with each passing hour. As of 6:48pm, wind started to blow strongly.
Meanwhile, flood started to build-up at around 7 pm. Vehicles were stuck in bumper to bumper traffic along Espana Boulevard that was caused by the knee-deep flood.
At 8:22pm, the sudden heavy downpour finally stopped, leaving Manila with only light rain showers.
However, flood continued to rise and the flood was knee-deep by 8:45 pm at Lacson Avenue corner Dapitan and at Antipolo Street.
Inside the university, almost half of the trees’ trunks are underwater and leaves shed from its branches.
The possible cause of heavy rainfall was not yet confirmed; but according to UST Secretary General Rev. Fr. Winston F. Cabading, O.P., there is still no official announcement of suspension of classes tomorrow, but he reminded students to remain vigilant and careful in this inclement weather
